Running time: 15 minutes

Dominic Gill is a renowned adventurer who has made a name for himself by travelling across the world by tandem accompanied by a mix of fascinating strangers each taking a seat on the back. His first ‘Take a Seat’ journey took him from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Ushuaia (the most southerly city in South America) – a voyage that totalled a vast 18,449 miles (29,519km) and took over 2 years to complete. His account of the trip has since become an award-winning TV documentary and ‘Take a Seat: Egypt’ is the latest instalment of Dominic’s unique view of the struggles of adventure mixed with the everyday challenges of human life.At the start of 2011, the people of Egypt started a revolution that attracted global attention and sparked an era that has become known as the Arab Spring. In the midst of this uprising, Dominic took his tandem to Tahrir Square, the centre of the revolution, and set out on a gruelling 4,000km journey. For 56 days he travelled across the desert in blistering temperatures of up to 50°C guided by 7 Egyptian companions. The spare backseat of his tandem always stood ready to invite others keen to cycle a leg of the adventure and add their individual spirit to the expedition. The perfect tool, the tandem combines Dominic’s love of adventure with his fascination in the people that surround us.
Dominic and his tandem have travelled across continents and now, in the land of pharaohs, he once again uses it to document the human side of adventure.
