Title:
Free Fall
Running Time: 4 minutes
Directed by: Guillaume Néry & Julie Gautier
Produced by: Bluenery Productions

The lights go down and the music comes thundering up – it’s time to hold your breath.

Pro-freediver Guillaume Néry walks into the water and calmly marches towards the edge of Dean’s Blue Hole on Long Island, the Bahamas. He surveys the prize below him – 663 vertical feet of deep, dark water. Giving himself up to the water, he takes the plunge and free falls towards the ocean floor. This isn’t just a dive, this is an underwater basejump.

Guillaume Néry is a world class freediver and ‘Free Fall’ is his epic tribute to the thrilling art of his sport. Recognised as one of the most dangerous and demanding sports in the extreme world, this diver makes freediving look simple. Surrendering completely to the ocean, it’s impossible to know the immense stress his body must endure. It took a full four afternoons to film this four minute masterpiece; now everyone can experience the adrenaline via the big screen.

Question is: are you still holding your breath?

Did you know?

As a method of training, freedivers will hold their breath for 1 minute at rest and without taking another breath walk for as far as possible. Some athletes will get close to 400 metres before taking their next breath.
